John Miller on GameMine

GameMine is a one of a kind mobile gaming subscription service. We offer users access to an entire catalog of games at a single membership cost. We are uniquely positioned to succeed in our industry since the standard practice of the competition is to offer games as free to download and subsequently upsell users to pay for in-app features. Therefore, they only offer users a fraction of the experience. Not only does GameMine offer games in their entirety, we also remove any and all pesky advertisements that inhibit the gaming experience. We also offer unlimited access to gameplay and we are constantly adding new games to our vast catalog. Another unique aspect of GameMine is that we offer both games for download as well as games that can be streamed over an internet connection. The latter allows the user to circumvent the annoying app stores altogether.

The brilliance of this innovative new approach to gaming came from two business partners in 2017. They recognized the opportunity in the market to supply the highly popular mobile gaming industry with the subscription model, which has become mainstream thanks to digital services such as Hulu, Netflix, and Spotify. Offering consumers a premium mobile gaming experience in this form gave birth to GameMine.

What are some red flags to watch out for in daily life?

There are many things that a business should focus on as opposed to not focus on. It is very easy to obsess over every opportunity that comes across your desk; however, it is not a very efficient use of time. It is important to truly understand what your objectives and your goals are to know which opportunities are worth pursuing and which are not. Additionally, it’s important to have the where-with-all to say no to the majority of opportunities that come across your desk that will not help your business to achieve those goals.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind?

GameMine hopes to leave a legacy behind of being pioneers in mobile gaming. We feel that we have been one of the very early players in the online subscription-based streaming mobile gaming ecosystem. We have seen companies like Apple and Google launch similar services that have both streaming and subscription-based elements to them. We are hoping people will see how long, how active, and how successful we have been in this space for some time now.

What is one of the biggest lessons you've learned?

One of the biggest life's lessons we’ve learned is exactly how difficult it is to manage a startup. It takes a tremendous amount of effort and resources to come up with a plan, to assess the risks, to take that leap of faith, and to execute your plan. You have to constantly monitor and manage the success of your business. It takes a lot of time and effort to find the right people to join your team. You have to persuade them to come on board and to take a risk of joining a smaller company. It is a great experience to have, but it is extremely challenging! So far, so good.

What are you currently most excited about?

We are most excited about the opportunity to grow GameMine in exciting new markets across the globe. We see opportunities in many emerging economies worldwide who haven't yet seen or experienced a service like GameMine yet. It makes it ripe for us to enter a market and capture new audiences.

What’s the vibe at the GameMine offices lately?

It is currently summer for us and we have GameMine employees who are enjoying their summer vacations. Everyone needs some well-deserved time off to relax and come back to the office with recharged batteries.
