Jaikowski Studios
Karen Jaikowski is the founder and owner of a Gallery in Las Vegas Called Jaikowski Studios. We have conducted an interview with her about her artworks.
How did you begin on this theme of capturing the excitement and awe of Las Vegas Showgirl?
I started working with costume designers in Vegas, I noticed the detail they put into the costumes when I designed sketches for them. I realize how hard the dancers and the costume makers work and the beauty of the show and dance.
Who or what influences you in your art?
Many people influence my art, from Erte, Frida Kahlo, Tamara de Lempicka, Michael Turner, Lichtenstein, Pieter Cornelis "Piet" Mondriaan, Nikola Tesla, Pollock, Lee Krasner.
Where has your work been mostly featured on?
My work has been featured in movies, what happens in Vegas is one of them, another show was Bad Ink where the gallery was featured in the show, my work has shown in California, United Kingdom, Mayor Oscar Goodman's office, and Germany.
Which is your favorite media to use? Will you explore other medias? (If yes, which ones?
I love working with acrylics, I do oils upon request, I have started full force into watercolors again since I started watercolors as a child as first Media to use when my family in Germany sent me a whole kit. My grandmother and mother and my relatives in Germany totally supported me in my art and started me into art at 3 years old I painted on the backs of Hanes pantyhose paper cardboard which when you think about it today we were totally recycling paper which was cool. I might look into pastels as a new media, I am looking into another media which will be very exciting but I want to surprise everyone with that.
